Eli Coustan
I'm a sophomore at Duke studying public policy and computer science, with a focus on public-interest technology.
My interest in this work began during the pandemic, when my grandparents struggled to find COVID-19 vaccine appointments. In response, I built a site that aggregated vaccine appointment availability across Illinois.
Building this site led me to broader questions about how data and technology shape society. Last summer, I brought that interest to my work as a data intern at the Partnership for Public Service, where I researched the federal workforce and published data-driven analyses of civil service policy.
This semester, I'm exploring those questions from another angle through research on public discourse surrounding data centers.
